This family is extra special, because they are close friends of mine. It was such a bummer to learn that their hospital changed their visitor policies due to COVID again just weeks before baby arrived. Certified doulas are no longer allowed in Banner hospitals across the states, which meant I was unable to attend their birth as their photographer and doula. We made the best of the situation though, and did a super relaxed in-home lifestyle newborn session in Mesa, Arizona.
I also shot their pregnancy announcement photos back in July, featuring their adorable, curly-haired toddler. It was so sweet to see him finally interacting with his baby brother on the outside of mama’s belly- he was so gentle and loving! But also still a toddler, so he was busy running all over the place while we took photos, as toddlers do.
Baby Gideon was born a couple weeks before Christmas, so of course we had to get some Santa-baby shots!
Gideon’s room was adorable and had some gorgeous pouring in. I usually like to get a feel for the inside of my client’s homes before I do their in-home session. This allows me to figure out where the windows are and what direction they are facing. It’s also important to know where the sun will be in the sky at the time of the session, because that can have a huge impact on the way the lighting falls within your home.
